TGIF

I am so glad its Thursday(actually its now Friday am). This is my third shift this week and I cant wait to be off and home with my WH and sweet boys for 3 nights straight. It would be nice of course if it was more, but that's life and I'm thankful for what I can get. It should be a busy weekend as WH best friend has moved to our town from California and is staying at our house until Monday when the movers come with his stuff. I haven't scrapbooked at all this week so I am going to try and get maybe one page done sometime before Monday. I bought a scrapbooking idea magazine last weekend and I'm anxious to try out one of the layouts. I have slowly been adjusting my scrappin style which has not been easy, but I am excited to try new things. One thing I noticed about the layouts in this book is that they will have a large like 8x10 size photo on one page and then smaller ones. I really like how they look but you really have to be organized and plan your layouts beforehand so you can order the large prints. I think I will try it the next time I order. I also want to try some layouts with ribbons and brads!

Balance

Now that the weekend is over the usual routine swings into action with exception to the fact that the kids are out of school because of presidents day. Right now they are over at their cousins house playing so I have a moment of peace and quiet. The main thoughts I have seem so blaugh that I don't know if they are worth writing about, but my dear friend Melanie says just to go ahead and write about them so here I go. I guess the main thought in my head is that I have so far spent my day cleaning, fixing lunch and then cleaning again. As much as I like being home and of course being with the kids, I absolutely do not know how any full time stay at home mom keeps her spirits up. This clean, cook, clean routine really depresses me and I feel absolutely blessed that I have my work outside of my home. It may not be anything special or glamorous and having to be away from my family to do it isn't ideal, but the challenge of it and the social aspect with my co-workers and the socialism with my patients is definitely something I need. I think if I didn't have it I would be less of a good wife and mother. Overall, I guess its about balance.

Well, so far i am not doing so well at keeping my blog updated. I guess there really is no right or wrong but I feel like a failure since I haven't posted on a daily basis. I do usually get on the computer every day but sometimes just don't feel like using my brain and creating a post. The weekend came and gone with the boys having a great time with grandma and grandpa. I worked Saturday and Monday nights that were overall uneventful. Tonight has been the opposite as things were hoppin' pretty good early on but at the moment are better. Everyone is ordering from Steak n Shake but I am being a good girl and not getting anything even though a shake sounds so good. I think working nights and eating not so well are probably the reasons I have put on the extra 10 lbs I am trying to lose. The boys were out of school Tuesday and Wednesday because of the weather, they get out early tomorrow and have no school Monday because of Presidents day so it has been a good week for them. We enjoyed a nice Valentines dinner together last night, I decorated the table and we ordered from Joes. I figured that this was the easiest way to get everyone a meal that they they wanted, plus I fixed dessert - chocolate chip bars for the boys and a cheesecake with cherries for Chad. I did accomplish to get a few scrapbook pages done last weekend so I am slowly getting 2006 caught up. I am hoping to do a little more this weekend. On another note, I am reading a mystery novel by Mary Higgins Clark that I picked up here at work. I must say that it is good but I don't think I will read another mystery novel again anytime soon as it is driving me crazy. I only have about 100pgs left so should finish it this weekend. well, should go.

quiet

Both boys went to grandma's for the weekend (my parents), which is something they love to do and unfortunately don't get to do but maybe 3 or 4 times a year. They live just under 2 hours away but it is enough driving time for me by the time I return home. WH and I naturally miss them terribly when they are not here and it is definitely much more quiet, but I know they are having a great time and don't miss us at all as life at Grandma's is like living like kings. First they usually get to visit with their favorite cousin and Grandma spoils them. SS#1 called earlier to tell his dad something and when I asked what they were doing he said they were at the grocery store. I suddenly remembered that Grandma always takes them there when they visit and buys whatever food they think they will want to eat while they are there. Usually they never want to go to the grocery store with me, but of course I don't buy every thing they want so again its much better with grandma. My mother is truly a wonderful grandmother and they are lucky to have her as I was blessed to have such a wonderful grandma also - my mom's mom which is no surprise.

Cold! Cold! Cold!!!

I have many things to update about but the biggest thing that stands out the most at this time is the cold. When I left work this morning the thermometer in the Durango said -1. I could definitely feel it as the heat slowly warmed up. The temp was up to 19 when I picked the boys up from school. WH told me to start the Durango 30 min before I leave but I forgot the spare key so I could lock it while its running and I go back inside. It would definitely be nice to get the remote start that we had on our old Durango, but by the time we get around to getting it the cold weather will probably be gone. Anyway, you would have thought that after I froze my but off yesterday morning that I would have remembered the key, but no, I forgot it again, so I will just have to freeze one more time.

Since my last entry I had four nights off of work and went back Sunday night for three nights. I usually dont work 3 nights in a row, but this once it worked out this way. I can't really complain as tonight has so far been easy, which I won't say outloud as those of us that work in the medical field are highly superstitious. Words like quiet, calm, slow are now allowed. The worse part of working this many in a row is just being away from home. I sleep while the kids are at school and WH is working so I see them after school and have an early supper with them but then its off to work. The reward for this three night stretch will be the 5 nights off after.

Will have to catch up with last weekends events later as it was a nice weekend, but better get off here since I am at work.
