Freshman Registration

I have worked the past two nights, so it is nice to be home. Work was fairly busy, but not too bad. Working in labor and delivery can definitely be very hectic or suprisingly slow. It is actually interesting how the trends will go. For instance, the past two nights only had 2 or 3 deliveries, but our rooms were full of preterm labor patients. Some nights we will just have several active labor patients and we are so full that we have to hold off our inductions. Then there are nights that the door is constantly revolving with various pregnant women complaints or problems that we can fix in an hr or two. Not that I am picky or anything, but overall I think if I had my way, I would have a labor patient each time that progresses well without any complications, delivering a healthy baby - ha ha- only in a nurses dreams!!!

SS#1 basketball season is now over, they loss their regional game Monday night 24 to 40. SS#1 didn't score which is unusual as he usually scores anywhere between 4 - 10 points a game, but WH said he played hard and had some great steals and assists.

Today was also another one of those moments in a parents life that makes you stop and think - Freshman registration! Yes, we had to register SS#1 for his classes as a Freshman for next year. It was a quick and painless process and SS#1 says he is actually excited about it. I think the thing I am excited about the most is that for once, both boy's schools will be on the same side of town and maybe I will only have to wait in one line to pick them up!!!!

WH went to play raquetball tonight with his brothers. I always like hearing the story of how the game went, because of course he always wins. They are all three competetive but I know that those two younger brothers want to beat their big brother badly. OH you have to love that sibling rivalry. We definitely see it with SS#1 and #2 on a daily basis. I don't think I ever experienced that since I was so much younger that the other three.

Well, better get on to some things around the house. Things seem to get behind quickly when I work two days in a row. Plus, American Idol is going to be on. This is the first time WH and I have ever really watched.

closet clutter

Without the snow like last weekend when we went out to our land in the country and WH and his brothers and kids came out to enjoy the first snow of the season (see pics), we were forced to be inside. It soon proved to be a productive day though as I finally started to clean out our bedroom closet which I have needed to do for some time. It seems to become the free for all space if there is something I don't know what to do with or don't want to put the time into finding the best place for something. Naturally there were mounds of clothing spread acrossed my bed as I sorted through making piles of clothes to trash, give away or take to the consignment store. It is hard for me to throw anything away but I was pretty disciplined yesterday and was able to clear out a lot of space. We can actually walk into the closet without touching anything and can see floor board along the wall!!!YeY!!! It was a lot of work and I was exhausted by the time I finished but unfortunately I still have one more task before it is truly completely done - taking the bags of unwanted clothing to the consignment store and either goodwill or the clothing center. Knowing myself well and the unfortunate procrastinator I am, this will probably take all week before I get it done. But it still feels good to the closet clean.

WH (wonderful husband) worked in the garage and worked on the three deer stands he is making for next hunting season. They are looking pretty good, but still has a lot of work yet to do as he says the work is slow at this point in the project, but truthfully he doesn't mind too much as he is always wanting something to do when it is too cold to go outside. SS#1 (sweet son) and SS#2 entertained themselves much of the day with video games and Basketball in the garage.

Back to school for them today - SS#1 has his last basketball game tonight which will be a relief since they are so unfortunately terrible and I will have to miss it as I work tonight. I usually can schedule myself around his games, but this is a regional tournament game and we didn't get the exact date until about a week ago. It is very cold today as it has been all weekend. Yesterday SS#2 said to me "mom, the windshield is minus 3 today." I said "the windshield?" and he replied "yah, the windshield." Finally I caught on and realized he was meaning the windchill, so I laughed a little and corrected him which of course led to a in depth conversation about what exactly the windchill is, which for those of you that know my dear SS#2 shouldn't be surprised this. I have to admit, SS#2 being 10 yrs old hasn't said anything incorrectly like this for a while and I enjoyed it. I miss some of the cute things they say when they are little.

Busy family

Today has surprisingly been a busy day for everyone. I worked last night so the usual Saturday morning routine was in place - I sleep while WH and boys go eat breakfast at Judy's, which is actually called the Courthouse Cafe' but we, like many Robinson residents I assume, still refer to it as Judy's. Anyway, after that WH had some things to do at our land in the country and the boys went to a movie. We all then gathered for dinner but again went seperate ways -WH went to play cards which he hasn't done for a very long time, so I hope he has a good time. SS#1 went to a friends house and SS#2 is going to another movie with a friend. Which leaves me to be at home, which is just fine - I always have plenty to do around here, plus I actually get to control the remote - ha!ha!. All this activity makes me think and realize how fast life does truly go by and before I know it both boys will be teens and busy with friends and activities all the time. When the boys were little - requiring so much work and attention, I didn't believe people when they would tell me that they grow up fast, but they were definitely right.
